Slack update: Thousands complain about outage; how to fix attachment, message issues

Slack, cloud-based teams communicate The platform appeared to be down for thousands of users on Wednesday. As of this writing, more than 3,000 people have complained about problems on DownDetector, which tracks outages.

Some users complained that attachments could not be opened, while some also complained that they were experiencing issues messaging. Most people noted that the mobile version of the app worked well for them.

“Cannot edit/delete message. Attachments are not displayed correctly,” one user commented on the DownDetector page. Another added, “Desktop app not receiving messages, phone app works fine for me.” at X Too many people have commented on the outage.

Slack provides updates on outage

Slack also addressed the issue in a series of complaints. On the status report page famous “The Slack engineering team is currently investigating a severe latency issue affecting all Slack services. We will provide an update as soon as we have more information to share and apologize for any inconvenience caused.”

It states that affected services include “Login/SSO, Connections, Messaging, Files, Notifications, Stacking, Search, Applications/Integration/API, Workspace/Organization Management, Workflow, and Canvas.”

The messaging service said severe delays were affecting all of its services. It is not yet clear what causes the same.

If you are having trouble sending or opening messages on Slack, the best thing to do is to check your internet connection and whether the app itself is facing an outage. If all goes well with these aspects, some ways to try to resolve the issue include clearing the application cache, updating the server, logging out and then logging back in.

If there is a problem with a Slack attachment, you should check file limits, clear the application cache and try again, and try relocating the file.

However, Slack admits the problem is of their own making. Therefore, user-level fixes are unlikely to solve the problems people face.

At the same time, the number of complaints dropped significantly. DownDetector currently has records of around 700 people facing trouble, but the Slack reporting page doesn’t yet provide updates on resolutions. On X, someone noticed that Slack had been down for nearly half an hour. them wrote “30 minutes of slack at SlackHQ is like the end of tech startups. @SlackHQ please stop scaring me like this.”
