Seattle police are investigating a shooting in North Beacon Hills that left an 18-year-old woman seriously injured.
SEATTLE — Police are investigating a shooting in Seattle’s North Beacon Hill neighborhood early Sunday that left an 18-year-old woman seriously injured.
According to the Seattle Police Department, around 5:58 a.m. on May 17, officers received a report of a shooting near the 1700 block of South State Street. When police arrived, they found evidence that shots had been fired.
A short time later, an 18-year-old female arrived at Harborview Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the leg. Police said she is in stable but serious condition.
Investigators learned that several young people were partying at a nearby home when an unknown man arrived in a vehicle. Police said the suspect had a confrontation with the victim outside shortly before the shooting.
The suspect fled before police arrived and fled in an unknown direction.
Authorities said two people loaded the injured woman into a car and drove her to Harborview for treatment.
Police also said at least two vehicles were hit by gunfire during the shooting.
Detectives from the department’s Gun Violence Reduction Team are leading the investigation and working to determine what led to the shooting.
