Speaking to the media about the safety measures in place for the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup, Mamdani said that Swift and Kelce’s wedding will take place in New York in early July, confirming rumors circulating on social media. However, he also confirmed that he was not invited.
“I have full confidence in the work the New York City Police Department (NYPD) and our state partners are doing to provide a safe experience,” Page Six quoted Mamdani telling reporters on Monday, June 15.
“We’re the largest city in the country. We’re used to big events and we’re really excited about this one. We know it’s happening at the same time as the Knicks game. [NBA] The finals are on. We know this coincides with the Fourth of July, America 250 and Taylor Swift’s wedding — all happening at the same time — and we’re so excited to welcome the world here,” he added.
When asked if he was invited and planned to go, Mamdani said: “No, no. I wish them a happy wedding. I’ll be home alone listening to ‘Only the Young'[Taylor Swift’s 2020 hit].”
Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s Romance
Swift and Kelce were first romantically linked in September 2023, after Swift appeared at one of his games, sitting next to Kelce’s mother. The two later announced their engagement on social media.
A source previously told Page Six that Kelce is Swift’s “protector” and that the singer feels “safe” in his presence.
