Emergency dispatchers respond to visible flames and smoke

Initial reports showed visible flames and thick smoke, prompting officials to set up a security perimeter around affected communities.

Emergency crews received reports of smoke in the 1200 block of East Mulberry Avenue. The Poudre Fire Department said multiple people called 911 after seeing smoke coming from the area. First responders moved quickly as the fire spread through brush and vegetation.

“Due to the fire occurring in dense vegetation, the area is filled with smoke. Crews are actively working to contain the fire with the help of multiple agencies,” a post from Poudre Fire at 6:08 p.m.

fort collins Police have issued a warning about emergency activity in the 1500 block of East Thorn Road and are advising drivers to prepare for delays. Authorities urged people to avoid the area to allow emergency vehicles access.

The actual size and severity of the fire have not yet been determined, but emergency departments are still actively fighting the fire.

Voluntary evacuation due to fire threatening nearby areas

The Larimer County Sheriff’s Office issued a voluntary evacuation notice for residents and businesses south of Highway 14 to Prospect Road and east of Timberline Road to Riverside Avenue.

Emergency alerts instruct residents to gather essential supplies and prepare for possible evacuations if conditions worsen.

Images and videos circulating online showed large plumes of smoke rising over eastern Fort Collins.

Fort Fun amusement park evacuated

The fire was burning near Springer Natural Area west of Interstate 25, producing large amounts of visible smoke.

The Fort Fun amusement park was evacuated as a precaution while workers tried to contain the fire, according to authorities.

Investigators have not yet publicly stated what caused the fire. Fire investigators will conduct a thorough investigation once conditions are stabilized and containment measures are completed.
