Anthony’s girlfriend, Valeria Perez, expressed her support for him by calling him a “cute boy” in a TikTok post.

“Lift up your head, my lovely child” Perez wroteshared several photos of her and Anthony together. “You are not alone, we are fighting for you.

“I love you more than words can say,” she added.

Anthony’s mother, Kala Hayes, also spoke out in a social media post after her son was taken to the Collin County Jail, where he was held until being transferred to the Pack Unit.

“But man…the fight isn’t over yet,” Hayes shared on Instagram Stories. “It’s just beginning.”

According to TMZ, Metcalf’s family is “very pleased” with the verdict and Anthony’s sentencing.

Carmelo Anthony will appeal

Anthony is now appealing his conviction while preparing for prison time. He was taken to the Collin County Jail and placed in isolation in the jail’s infirmary, Fox News Digital reported. On Wednesday, June 10, he was transferred to the custody of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice to serve his sentence. He was taken to the Wolfpack’s unit near Navasota.

According to court records, Anthony has now filed a notice of appeal following his conviction.

Anthony, 19 Sentenced to 35 years in prison 2025 murder of 17-year-old Metcalf. He is accused of stabbing Metcalf to death during a rain delay at a high school track meet. Before the stabbing at Frisco Memorial High School, Metcalf reportedly asked Anthony, who is black, to leave the event because he did not attend that school. Metcalf is white.

Anthony has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder in the April 2, 2025, slaying of Metcalf. He claimed he stabbed Metcalf in self-defense.
