One skydiver killed, second injured in mid-air collision in Southeast Washington

Two skydivers collided in the air Sunday night, killing one and injuring another, deputies said.

ADAMS COUNTY, Wash. — A skydiver was killed and another injured in a mid-air collision in Adams County Sunday night, according to the local Sheriff’s Office.

On May 24 at approximately 5:37 p.m., emergency personnel were called to the 2000 block of E. Schoessler Road following a report of two skydivers in need of medical assistance.

Deputies said they learned at the scene that two skydivers had collided in mid-air.

One was pronounced dead and the other was transported to a medical facility for further treatment.

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.

The victim was released to the Adams County Coroner’s Office.

Authorities have not yet notified either of the skydivers’ identities, nor have their families been notified.
