DULLES, Va. — A United Airlines flight bound for Guatemala was diverted Thursday after reports of an “unruly passenger.”
Passengers on United Flight 1551 from Newark, N.J., were transferred to Dulles Airport, Virginia. Few details about the incident have been released.
WUSA9 reached out to United Airlines to get more clarity on what “unruly” means and the specific reasons for the diversion. The airline did not elaborate but said there were no reports of injuries on board.
United Airlines flights were canceled and replacement flights added Friday morning. Passengers on the plane were provided overnight accommodation.
The FBI issued a statement confirming that agents responded to Dulles but provided no other information beyond that.
There were 145 passengers and 6 crew members on the flight.
