Tesla is recalling dozens of Cybertrucks because a cracked rotor could cause the wheel stud to separate from the wheel hub.
WASHINGTON — Tesla is recalling 173 Cybertruck vehicles because cracked rotors could cause the wheel studs to separate from the hubs, increasing the risk of collisions and injuries.
The recall includes 2024-2026 model year Cybertrucks equipped with 18-inch steel wheels. NHTSA said in the report that rough roads and turns can strain the stud holes in the wheel hub, causing cracks to form, and if driving continues, the wheel studs can eventually separate from the hub.
Separated wheel studs may affect vehicle controllability and increase the risk of a collision.
For affected vehicles, Tesla will replace front and rear brake discs, wheel hubs, and lug nuts with more durable products for free to owners.
The manufacturer’s recall number is SB-26-33-003. Owners can contact Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752.
Tesla also recalled more than 200,000 Model Y, Model S, Model X and Model 3 electric vehicles due to a software problem that caused the rearview camera to become unusable for a short period of time.
Loss of rearview camera images may affect the driver’s field of vision and increase the risk of a collision.
Tesla’s recall number is SB-26-00-016.
Tesla is not aware of any accidents, deaths or injuries related to the above recall issues.
