Seattle police are investigating a shooting in Bitter Lake where a man was injured during a confrontation in a car.
SEATTLE — Seattle police are investigating after a 39-year-old man was shot and killed in the Bitter Lake neighborhood on Saturday.
Police responded to the 900 block of North 143rd Street just after 5:30 p.m. on reports of shots fired. When police responded to the scene, they discovered a vehicle involved in the incident had arrived at Northwestern Hospital on North 115th Street.
Inside the vehicle, officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to his left arm. Police assisted in loading the victim onto a gurney before hospital staff began treatment. He was later taken to Harborview Medical Center in stable condition.
Investigators said the shooting occurred inside a car on North 143rd Street when the victim and another man got into a fight. After the shooting, the suspect fled the area before police arrived, but he was not found.
Detectives from the Seattle Police Gun Violence Reduction Unit responded to Harborview Medical Center to interview those involved. Authorities are still working to determine what led to the shooting.
