New Delhi: Union Minister Chirag Paswan on Thursday condemned the killing bjp Chandranath Rath, aide to leader Suvendu Adhikari, claimed that the incident reflected the “politics of violence” against which the people of West Bengal voted in the recently concluded assembly elections.Paswan told reporters in Patna that the incident was “painful and shameful” and alleged that “TMC goons” were behind the murder.“This is exactly the kind of violent politics that the people of Bengal voted against in the recently concluded assembly polls,” he said.Adhikari’s administrative assistant Rath was shot dead on Wednesday night, allegedly by bike-borne assailants, who forced his car to park on the outskirts of Kolkata around 10.30 pm, days after the BJP registered a historic victory in the state.Paswan further claimed that the ruling Trinamool Congress party cannot accept its electoral defeat. “Their inability to accept defeat even after the elections shows their mentality of oppressing the people of Bengal for 15 years,” he said, according to news agency PTI.The federal minister claimed action would be taken against those responsible for the killings. “The central government and Union Home Minister Amit Shah are deeply concerned. Our stand is very clear: Such violence will no longer be tolerated in Bengal,” Paswan said.Commenting on reports that outgoing chief minister Mamata Banerjee has refused to resign, Paswan said regardless of her decision, a BJP government will be formed in the state soon.“TMC obviously does not have these numbers. In such a situation, the governor has the power to dissolve the Assembly. A new BJP government will be formed in West Bengal soon, which will take the state on the path of development,” he said.
