jimmy kimmel Disney and ABC should be fired immediately,” the President of the United States wrote in a post on Truth Social.

“Kimmel is not funny at all, as his poor TV ratings prove, but he made shocking statements on his show. He showed fake videos of the first lady, Melaniaand our son, Barronlike they actually sat in his studio and listened to him speak, but they didn’t and never will,” Trump commented.

Here’s what Kimmel had to say about Melania Trump

Kimmel teased the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in advance on Thursday night’s show with a speech of his own, in which he said: “Our first lady Melania is here. Look at Melania, how beautiful. Mrs. Trump, you are radiant like a widow on the way.”

Melania Trump’s reaction

Earlier on Monday, Melania Trump lambasted the late-night host, calling him a “coward” who “hides behind ABC because he knows the broadcasters will continue to cover to protect him.”

“Kimmel’s hateful and violent rhetoric is designed to divide our country. His monologue about my family was not comedy – his words are corrosive and deepen the political pathology within America. People like Kimmel should not have the opportunity to enter our homes every night and spread hate. Kimmel is a coward hiding behind ABC because he knows the network will continue to protect him. Enough is enough. It’s time for ABC to take a stand. How many more times will Kimmel’s brutality come at the expense of our community? “

What’s next for Kimmel

The response marked a significant change for Melania Trump, who has traditionally avoided interacting with late-night hosts, at least not to the extent of her husband. Her choice to express her views illustrates the seriousness with which Trump’s circle takes the White House Correspondents’ Dinner incident.

ABC now finds itself in the proverbial position. The network had previously temporarily suspended Kimmel from the air amid backlash over his comments about conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Ultimately, ABC reiterated its support for Kimmel, and the late-night host publicly stated that he maintains a positive relationship with his superiors.

The first lady’s involvement, however, ups the ante for ABC. Executives still have a chance to call off Monday’s event and assess whether the situation is stable.
