Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have lodged a formal complaint with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for alleged misconduct during the 2026 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). April 5, Chinnaswamy Stadium. The complaint highlights concerns ranging from inappropriate on-field entertainment to alleged harassment of CSK supporters, adding a new layer of controversy to one of the IPL’s fiercest rivalries.According to a report in The Indian Express sourcing CSK, a song played during the match contained words like “dosa, idli, sambar, chutney” which the team felt were stereotypes and mocked their tamil nadu identity. The incident comes amid an increasingly fierce rivalry between the two teams. RCB have now played four consecutive matches against CSK, heightening tensions between the two sides and the fans. CSK managing director Kasi Viswanathan told The Indian Express: “DJ usually supports the home team. But at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, the situation is different. Certain comments were made about our players. Keeping this in mind, we have written to the BCCI to look into it.”The song, originally composed by musician Gana Appu, is associated with the CSK-RCB match and is often circulated on social media. The incident dates back to last year, when RCB shared a video of wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma singing “Dosa, idli, sambar, chutney” before a match in Chennai, sparking a backlash from CSK fans. During the return match in Chepauk, CSK’s DJ played the same song when Jitesh was dismissed.Following the incident, the CSK management intervened and issued clear instructions to avoid any words or actions that may be directed at the opponent players or fans. CSK chief executive Kasi Viswanathan said: “There has been no recurrence of anything like this since then. DJs should not have made comments about opposing players and we are lucky to have a large number of fans who support us.”However, CSK has now raised concerns again, pointing out that a similar situation occurred during the April 5 match in Bengaluru. Apart from the song, they also objected to the remarks made by the stadium DJ after the CSK players were sacked. The team management also expressed concern over the conduct of the stadium DJ, saying the CSK player’s comments after his dismissal crossed the line. CSK believes that the role of DJ should be to enhance the atmosphere of the game, rather than target or ridicule the opponents.
