Children’s screen time is often a concern for families, especially when advertising or additional spending is involved. Netflix is now trying a different approach, launching a gaming app specifically for younger users, where content remains in a controlled space and isn’t interrupted by ads or purchases.

What does the Netflix Playground app offer?
Netflix Playground is designed for children ages 8 and under. It brings together a library of games and activities based on known characters. The app comes with a regular Netflix subscription and does not include ads or additional fees.
It also supports offline playback, allowing children to use it without an Internet connection after downloading. The app is available for smartphones and tablets and requires a Netflix login.
In-app games and characters
The app includes content related to games such as Peppa Pig, Sesame Street, and StoryBots. Activities include simple tasks such as puzzles, matching games and interactive games. It also includes content based on Horton Hears a Who! and Snitch. All games launch instantly and can be played offline.
How to get started
Users can download the app from the App Store, log in with a Netflix account, and select games by character. The app also displays storage usage and allows users to delete games if needed.
New and Returning Programs
Netflix also shared an update on its children’s content lineup. The new series Young MacDonald will focus on the theme of learning. Returning shows include “Garbage Truck” and “Creature Bin.”
Upcoming titles include My Sesame Street Friends, CoComelon Lane, and Chatterbox: The Movie, with more to be released in the coming months.
Parental controls and rollout
The platform continues to offer features such as child profiles, content restrictions, viewing history and profile locks to help parents manage access. Netflix Playground is already available in select markets and will expand to more regions starting April 28.
