In the two and a half years since war with Hamas broke out in October 2023, Israel has controlled large swaths of Gaza, Lebanon and Syria in its largest expansion of military-controlled territory in decades. The total area is approximately 1,000 square kilometers (386 square miles), making it larger than many major cities. Israel says it plans to stay there “indefinitely.”The land grab began after Hamas’ 2023 cross-border attacks sparked fighting on multiple fronts. The Israeli military responded by taking control of parts of Gaza and later expanded its power into Lebanon and Syria. In Gaza and Lebanon, Israeli land seizures and evacuation warnings have displaced more than 3 million people.Israel describes the areas as “buffer zones,” saying they are necessary to prevent future attacks by armed groups. The “buffer zones” – which cover about 5% of Israel’s land mass – are not considered new borders, but concerns remain that they could become permanent.Since its founding in 1948, Israel has never had clear borders, which have changed with wars, annexations, ceasefires and peace agreements. Here’s a closer look at Israel’s expansion:lebanonIsrael and Hezbollah have fought numerous wars since the Iranian-backed Lebanese militant group was founded in 1982.Between 1982 and 2000, Israel controlled much of southern Lebanon to “protect” northern Israeli communities. After withdrawing in 2000, the United Nations established a border between the two countries. The year-long fighting between Israel and Hezbollah ended in a ceasefire in October 2024. However, the truce collapsed last March. Israel then launched a ground invasion of Lebanon. After fighting ceased in April, Israel said its forces would take control of an area 10 kilometers (6 miles) deep into Lebanese territory.According to the Carnegie Middle East Center, Israel currently controls approximately 608 square kilometers (234 square miles) of land in Lebanon.Evacuation warnings have displaced around 1.2 million people, with Israel warning civilians not to return.GazaIsrael seized control of the Gaza Strip from Egypt in the 1967 Mideast War and withdrew its troops and settlers in 2005.Hamas took control of the territory in 2007, and an attack on Israel on October 7, 2023 sparked the ongoing war. When the ceasefire came into effect in October 2025, Israel withdrew from the area marked by the so-called “yellow line”, giving it control of more than half of the strip.Nearly the entire population – more than two million (two million) people – has been pushed into overcrowded tent areas and dependent on aid. Much of the area, including much of the farmland, has been bulldozed or inaccessible. With ceasefire talks stalled over the disarmament of Hamas, Israel has shifted its battle lines westward and expanded its control to more than 60 percent of Gaza, or about 194 square kilometers (75 square miles), Gisha said. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said control could rise to 70%.SyriaIsrael seized the Golan Heights from Syria in the 1967 Mideast War and later annexed the area, a move that was not widely recognized by the international community. After the war ended in 1973, the United Nations established a buffer zone in southern Syria adjacent to the Israeli-controlled Golan Heights, monitored by about 1,100 peacekeepers. After the fall of Syrian President Bashar Assad’s regime in December 2024, Israel moved its troops into the buffer zone, citing security concerns about armed groups and Iran’s supply routes to Hezbollah in Lebanon. The United Nations and other observers said the move violated a 1974 ceasefire agreement. Civilians have largely stayed put but face checkpoints and occasional clashes.Syria’s interim president Ahmed Sala has called for a withdrawal of troops from the area, which the United Nations estimates covers about 235 square kilometers (91 square miles).west bankSince taking control of the West Bank in 1967, Israel has established more than 100 settlements in the area.According to Peace Now, since 2022, the Israeli government has approved 47 new settlements and formalized or expanded 55 existing settlements. After the Gaza War broke out, Israel expanded its military operations in the West Bank, resulting in the displacement of tens of thousands of Palestinians. Some approvals involve the retroactive legalization of outposts, while others expand existing settlements. The growth of settlements has been driven by political support within Israel and support from the pro-settlement U.S. government. The international community considers the settlements illegal and the Palestinians see them as a major obstacle to a future peace deal.(with AP input)
Quote of the day from American financier J.P. Morgan: “If you have to ask how much it will cost, you can’t…” | World News
When making a purchasing decision, sometimes the conversation takes a subtle turn. Someone asked about the price. After hearing this, his tone changed. Not always because it’s unaffordable, but because the situation was never really a comparison in the first place. This shift is often associated with JPMorgan Chase, one of the most influential figures in U.S. banking history. His world is finance at scale, where transactions often have less to do with day-to-day budgets and more to do with access, agency and influence. In this case, price is not always a starting point. Sometimes, if at all, it comes up much later in the conversation.
Quotation of the day JPMorgan Chase
“If you have to ask how much it costs, you definitely can’t afford it.”
On paper, this sounds like a statement about wealth. But today it’s used in a much wider way than that.It points out the gap between curiosity and commitment. In some cases, people ask about costs because they are still trying to position themselves in relation to the decision. In other cases, the decision has already been made mentally and price is no longer the primary filter. This quote has survived because it reflects a familiar social reality. Not every purchase starts with calculation. Some start with desires, preferences, or expectations and then work their way back to numbers.
What does this statement mean in practice?
In daily life, price often acts as a filter. People compare, evaluate, adjust, and decide based on limits. This is normal and necessary. But in some cases, the process works differently.A person looking for great service, luxury, or even a highly specialized experience might not ask “how much” in the same way. This question sometimes indicates that they are unsure if they belong in that space. This is where the power of Morgan’s line comes into play. It’s not just about money. It’s about alignment. Whether someone is already operating within the assumptions of a certain degree of choice. In short, this statement is more about mental framework than affordability.
Why this still comes up in modern conversations
Even now, in a world where almost all prices can be searched within seconds, the idea has not gone away. The high-end market remains heavily dependent on the environment. The same goes for professional services, niche experiences, and even certain digital ecosystems. In many of these areas, price is not the first signal people receive. Design, reputation, scarcity or exclusivity tend to come first. But this statement also occurs outside of luxury settings. People use it informally when describing anything that requires a level of commitment that someone is not ready for, whether it’s time, energy, or responsibility.A training program. A demanding role. A long-term obligation. The pattern is similar. If the first response is hesitation about “cost,” that may already indicate a mismatch in expectations.
Lessons from this
- It’s not always about affordability
People often think of costs as purely financial. In fact, cost can also mean time, effort, or attention. This statement applies on all these levels.
- Readiness shapes perception
Two people may see the same options and interpret them differently depending on their readiness. This difference is often more important than the price itself.
- Questions can reveal positioning
Asking for a price is more than just gathering information. Sometimes it reflects whether someone has imagined themselves in the midst of that decision, or remains outside of it.
- Everyone experiences value differently
What seems out of reach to one person may be routine to another. The difference is rarely just income. It’s context, exposure, and expectations.
About JPMorgan Chase
JPMorgan Chase was an important figure in the American financial community in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He played a central role in banking, industrial consolidation and large-scale corporate financing at a time when the modern financial system was still forming. He is known not only for his wealth but also for his influence in stabilizing markets and building large industrial enterprises during financial crises. His name later became associated with one of the most powerful banking institutions in the United States.
Other famous quotes from JPMorgan Chase
- “The first step to getting somewhere is deciding you’re not going to stay where you are.”
- “A man always has two reasons for doing anything: a good reason and a real reason.”
- “I don’t know because I want a lawyer to tell me what I can’t do. I hired him to tell me how to do what I want to do.”
- “Go as far as you can see; and when you get there, you can see further.”
How this idea works in real life
Most people will encounter versions of this sentence without even noticing.Sometimes this happens when selecting a service or experience. Sometimes it shows up in career decisions or long-term commitments. The common denominator is not luxury, but consistency. The real question is rarely just “how much will it cost?” Usually it’s “is this something I would consider on this level?”Once this distinction becomes clear, the sentence reads less like a statement about wealth and more like a comment on the decision itself.
The deeper meaning behind Morgan’s quote about prices
Morgan’s line continues to circulate because it captures a specific moment in human behavior. The nexus of curiosity and positioning. People are asked not only to ask about the price, but also to reveal how they made their decision in the first place. It’s not so much rejection as perspective. Different situations just start with different assumptions.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED), the state’s major crime unit, joined an investigation in South Carolina on Wednesday, June 17, after authorities said they found a body in the woods where Moore was last seen a week ago. The Lexington Police Department (LPD) said the body “fits our missing person’s clothing description,” but has not yet formally identified it.
The case is listed as an active death investigation. SLED is currently assisting in determining the cause of death and confirming the identity, Fox News reported.
LPD Chief Terrence Green said authorities discovered the body after receiving a tip from a citizen, which led investigators to conduct a targeted search.
“At approximately 2:48 p.m., we discovered an unidentified body matching the clothing description of a missing person. We are still waiting for the coroner to confirm her identity,” Green said.

Nancy Guthrie Update: Aren’t Anne and Tommaso Cioni home? YouTuber makes shocking statement amid ‘Lights On’ controversy
Four months after Nancy Guthrie’s family reported her missing, she still has not been found. Now, a YouTuber has made a shocking statement saying that her daughter, Anne and her husband, Tommaso Scionidid not live in their home, which is near the Catalina Foothills address near Tucson, Arizona, from where Nancy Guthrie was taken.

Guthrie was reported missing on February 1, and authorities believe she was taken from her home the night before. Although the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, which is handling the case, has removed all members of the Guthrie family from its list of suspects, public speculation about Anne and Tommaso continues.

Previously, former NewsNation reporter Ashleigh Banfield claimed that Tomasso could be a suspect in the case. The move has since been reversed by the authorities. But Anne and Tommaso were among the last people to see Guthrie before she was taken away, as the 84-year-old had dined with Anne the night before and Tommaso is believed to have sent her home afterwards. It’s worth noting that the YouTuber’s statement comes as Lights allegedly seen at Guthrie’s homeleading to unsubstantiated claims that Anne and Tommaso stayed there.
Earlier, it was also speculated that Anne and Tommaso were not at home. However, none of this has been confirmed by any official source.
What YouTubers say about Annie and Tommaso Cioni
Alexander Zabel Jr, who ran the criminal network, made this claim about Anne and Tommaso. It’s worth noting that Zabel Jr. was recently arrested by Pima County police for “public nuisance” because he had been livestreaming near Guthrie.
Zabel Jr. claimed to own “multiple properties.” “Explains why Tommaso and Annie are not at home,” Zabel Jr. added. In his post, he mentioned Nancy Guthrie’s daughter, “Today” host Savannah Guthrie, but did not clarify whether the so-called “multiple properties” belonged to the octogenarian or her daughter.
It’s worth noting that Savannah herself has spoken about how her wealth may have been the reason Nancy Guthrie was targeted. Many law enforcement experts also hold similar views and believe that this kidnapping may be targeted, and the country has been paying close attention to this kidnapping case.
However, Zabel Jr.’s claims about Tommaso and Annie don’t seem to go down well with people online. “Damn AI knows everything. Sauce,” one person commented under his post, referring to a screenshot of the AI summary shared by the YouTuber in an attempt to back up his claims about the duo, against whom public scrutiny has been directed.
Archaeologists discover 5,000-year-old monument in Wiltshire linked to early Stonehenge tradition World News
Archaeologists have discovered an early prototype of Stonehenge, a remarkable 5,000-year-old monument that predates Britain’s most famous prehistoric landmark by some 500 years. The discovery, made near Bulford in Wiltshire, about five kilometers from Stonehenge, has been described by researchers as a “once-in-a-lifetime” find. Experts believe the monument may provide new clues about how ancient communities first developed the solar alignment and ritual traditions that later became the core of Stonehenge. The timing of the announcement is particularly significant, just days before thousands of people are expected to gather at Stonehenge to watch the summer solstice sunrise, one of the most important events in the site’s annual calendar.Unlike the towering stone circles of Stonehenge, the newly discovered structure is much simpler in design.Archaeologists found evidence of two massive wooden pillars about 120 meters apart. Although the wood itself has long since disappeared, large post holes remain in the ground, allowing researchers to reconstruct the monument’s original layout.Radiocarbon dating shows that the monument was built between 3000 BC and 2950 BC, some five centuries older than the iconic stone circle that later stood on Salisbury Plain.Researchers believe the pillars may have been three to four meters high, forming a striking landmark in the prehistoric landscape. One of the most important aspects of this discovery is its precise alignment with the Sun.Analysis by Skyscape archaeologist Dr Fabio Silva confirmed that the monument was carefully positioned to face midsummer rise and midwinter sunset, an astronomical pattern that would later become a defining feature of Stonehenge. The discovery suggests that communities living in the area were observing and marking important solar events centuries before Stonehenge was built.Phil Harding of Wessex Archeology, who led the excavation, said the discovery gave us a rare glimpse into how prehistoric people understood the sky and organized their ritual lives around seasonal cycles. He described it as one of the most important discoveries of his long archaeological career.Experts say the monument adds to growing evidence that the wider Stonehenge landscape was a major ceremonial center long before the famous monoliths were erected. The site generates more than just mailboxes.Archaeologists have discovered dozens of pits containing pottery shards, flint tools, animal bones and charcoal, suggesting that people gathered there for significant communal activities. One of the most interesting finds was a rare disk-shaped flint knife. Researchers believe its circular design may have symbolized the sun, reinforcing the theory that the monument had religious or ritual importance.Animal remains were also found, including bones from aurochs (a now extinct bison species), providing further evidence that mass gatherings may have occurred at the site.Archaeologists believe the monument was not a permanent settlement, but rather a place where communities gathered regularly to commemorate key moments in the annual cycle. One of the most fascinating questions raised by this discovery is whether the monument’s builders later played a role in the creation of Stonehenge itself.Researchers say the newly discovered site bears striking similarities to the earliest stages of Stonehenge. Both are comparable in size and both focus on solar alignment. This has led some experts to believe that the community responsible for building the wooden monument may have passed down their knowledge and traditions, which ultimately inspired the construction of the stele, making it one of the most famous prehistoric sites in the world. The discovery is further evidence that Salisbury Plain was the site of a complex network of ritual monuments, ceremonial sites and gathering places that stretched over centuries.
