UAE travel alert: Etihad Airways announces flight schedule for March 10-12, check destinations

The Iran-US-Israel war has left thousands of passengers stranded across the UAE due to airspace closures, flight cancellations and air diversions. While UAE authorities have been praised for providing assistance to tourists, providing hotel and food vouchers and transport services, many are still scrambling to catch the next flight home. While geopolitical tensions continue to escalate, a limited number of flights have resumed to help safely transport stranded passengers home. Many airlines in the Gulf region and those connected to the region through their air networks have started to gradually arrange flights. Etihad Airways, one of the Gulf region’s leading airlines, has released its latest limited flight schedule to key destinations from Abu Dhabi. The airline has listed flights for March 10, 11 and 12 so that passengers with existing bookings can be accommodated as quickly as possible.

Etihad Airways Airlines issue passenger guide

  • Please visit etihad.com to check your flight status before traveling.
  • Make sure the contact details on your booking are up to date.
  • Tickets issued on or before February 28, 2026, with travel dates before March 21, can be rebooked for free on Etihad-operated flights until May 15, 2026.
  • Refunds for flights before March 21 can be requested at etihad.com/en/help/refund-form or through your travel agent.

From March 6 to 19, the airline will arrange flights to Ahmedabad, Amsterdam, Athens, Bangkok, Beijing, Bangalore, Boston, Cairo, Delhi, Dubai, Jeddah, Karachi, London (Heathrow), Manila, Melbourne, Mumbai, New York (JFK), Paris, Riyadh, Sydney, Tokyo and other destinations. Additionally, the airline added that all services are subject to operational approval and may be adjusted based on airspace conditions. Passengers are advised to check the latest timetable online for specific operating dates.

Gulf airlines resume operations

Gulf airlines have briefly and gradually resumed operations to major destinations. Along with Etihad, Qatar Airways has also been helping travelers return home. On March 10, the Indian Embassy in Qatar revealed that 1,000 Indians stranded in Doha had left on Qatar Airways in the past three days to help ensure the safe return of those stranded in the country for transit or short-term visits.

Air India begins operations

Major Indian airlines such as Air India, Indian Express, IndiGo, SpiceJet and Alkasa Air have resumed operations to the Middle East. As of March 9, these airlines have planned 50 inbound flights from the region and are continuing to monitor the situation in West Asia. Air India operated 32 special flights from India to the UAE on March 9, in addition to 10 flights from Jeddah and Muscat. In addition, Air India Express operates 14 other flights to and from Muscat. IndiGo resumed operations on a limited basis, including 17 flights to and from Middle Eastern cities. The airline is also offering free cancellation waivers to customers in the Middle East and Istanbul, Turkey. On March 9, the airline operated its first flight to Manchester since the airspace was opened following the outbreak of war in the Middle East. However, the airline said on Sunday that the flight returned to its origin in Delhi due to last-minute airspace restrictions imposed due to the evolving situation in the Middle East. The disruption highlights the global aviation industry’s close ties to geopolitical stability. The Middle East is one of the most important air travel corridors and any security threat in the region could disrupt travel for travelers from Asia, Europe and Africa.

Things to consider before buying a Chromebook

1. Processor and performance: Check the processor before choosing a Chromebook. Entry-level models use Intel Celeron or MediaTek chips for browsing, document editing, and video streaming. If you work with multiple tabs or web applications, consider models with Intel Core processors and higher RAM.

2. Memory and storage: Chromebooks mainly rely on Google Drive for cloud storage. Most devices offer 4GB or 8GB RAM and eMMC storage. If you have many browser tabs open or run Android apps, choose a model with 8GB of RAM and at least 128GB of storage.

3. Display size and resolution: Display size affects portability and comfort. Compact models around 11-12 inches are suitable for travel and students. Larger screens like 14-inch or 15.6-inch displays are better for document work, video streaming, and multitasking. Full HD resolution delivers clearer text and video.

4.Battery life: Battery performance is important for users who work outside the home or office. Many Chromebooks last between 10 and 13 hours. Check the battery capacity and manufacturer claims to make sure the laptop can last a full day of work or study.

5. Build and Portability: If you carry your laptop around frequently, weight and build quality are important. Lightweight models around 1.2kg to 1.5kg are more suitable for travel, classes or meetings. Some Chromebooks also include durability certification for daily use.

6. Convertible or standard design: Some Chromebooks feature a 360-degree hinge that allows the screen to rotate into tablet or tent mode. These models facilitate reading, presentation, and media streaming. Standard laptop designs focus primarily on keyboard-based work.

7. Connections and ports: Look for Wi-Fi standard, USB-C port, USB-A port, HDMI or microSD card slot. These options help connect external monitors, storage drives or accessories without the need for additional adapters.

8. Software and Updates: Chromebooks run ChromeOS, which receives regular updates from Google. Check your device’s Automatic Update Expiration (AUE) period to find out when your laptop will receive software and security updates.

SC asks Center to draft ‘no-fault compensation policy’ for serious Covid vaccine side effects

0

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Tuesday directed the Center to formulate a no-fault compensation policy for people suffering serious adverse effects due to COVID-19 vaccines.A bench of Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta said the existing mechanism for monitoring adverse events after immunization should continue. The Supreme Court ordered: “The Union of India will formulate a no-fault compensation policy for serious adverse events after COVID-19 vaccination. The existing monitoring mechanism for adverse events after vaccination should be continued and relevant data can be made public on a regular basis.”“Given the existing mechanisms for the scientific assessment of adverse events following immunization, there is no need for a separate court-appointed expert body,” it added. However, the Supreme Court said the introduction of such a compensation scheme should not be seen as an admission of any wrongdoing by the government. The Supreme Court ruled on the plea, one of which alleged that two women died after taking the first dose of the Covishield vaccine in 2021. The petition further claimed that both of them suffered severe adverse effects after the immunization. In early 2022, the Kerala High Court directed the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to “expeditiously” formulate a policy to identify people who died due to sequelae of Covid-19 immunization and compensate their families.Justice V G Arun directed the NDMA to take necessary action “as soon as possible” but within three months of issuing the order on September 1.The direction came after Justice Arun said he had personally come across three such cases in the current jurisdiction where it was alleged that a person who had been immunized against Covid-19 died due to sequelae of vaccination.

NASA warning! The 1,300-pound satellite will crash toward Earth on March 10 after 14 years in orbit

A NASA satellite is expected to crash back to Earth on Tuesday, March 10, after nearly 14 years in orbit. The spacecraft in question is Van Allen Probe A, which weighs about 1,323 pounds (600 kilograms). It was launched in August 2012 with its twin Van Allen Probes B to study the radiation belts around Earth. Both detectors were decommissioned in 2019, but Detector A’s time in orbit has now ended. Experts say most of the satellite will burn up upon re-entry, but some fragments may survive. The risk to people on site is low, about 1 in 4,200.According to the U.S. Space Force, re-entry is expected to take approximately 24 hours at 7:45 pm EST on March 10. Observers note that this is just an estimate and may be adjusted as tracking data improves. Any surviving debris is likely to fall into the ocean, since water covers nearly 70% of the Earth’s surface. It seems unlikely that any major city would see debris falling nearby.

NASA’s Van Allen probe satellite is expected to re-enter the Earth’s atmosphere on March 10

The Van Allen Probes were originally called the Radiation Belt Storm Probes. They orbit the Earth in highly elliptical orbits at distances from approximately 384 miles (618 kilometers) to 18,900 miles (30,415 kilometers). The mission was designed to last only two years, but both satellites exceeded expectations. Detector A continued to collect data until October 2019, and Detector B operated until July 2019. Experts say that solar activity in recent years has expanded the Earth’s atmosphere and increased the frictional resistance of satellites. This may cause Probe A to descend earlier than originally planned.During its operation, the Van Allen Probes collected data from the radiation belts surrounding Earth. Scientists use this information to understand how solar activity affects satellites, astronauts, and even ground-based systems such as communications networks, GPS, and power grids. By studying these areas, researchers have reportedly improved predictions of space weather events that sometimes disrupt electronic systems on Earth. The data can also help plan future missions and better predict the hazards of solar storms.

NASA details satellite re-entry and debris risks

NASA noted that most of the satellite will burn up as it passes through the atmosphere. Still, some components may survive. The debris could splash into the ocean, posing minimal risk to humans. Experts estimate the likelihood of injury to be about 0.02%. While it’s fun to track, there’s nothing to worry about, observers say. The Space Force will update the reentry forecast in real time, so a more precise time may be closer to the event.

What to expect with NASA’s second Van Allen probe satellite

Probe B is not expected to return to Earth until around 2030. Its decline appears to be less affected by recent solar activity than Probe A’s. Both satellites were deactivated but remained in orbit until re-entry. They continue to provide a reference for scientists studying space weather and its effects. Experts say tracking their descent helps improve understanding of orbital decay and atmospheric drag, which could be useful for other satellites still in use.
