Two YouTube users have been arrested for allegedly trying to attend a FIFA World Cup match without valid documents. Beni Marmor and Pato Perrotta were detained outside Portugal’s match against Portugal. Ahead of Colombia’s game in Miami, authorities said they used expired media passes to enter the stadium. According to police, the two passed through multiple security checkpoints before being stopped. The YouTubers reportedly told officials they wanted to live stream the game and cover the entire incident. They now face criminal charges, although their manager said they have been released on bail.

According to local reports, Marmoor and Perrotta allegedly attempted to enter the stadium using media credentials that had expired after the previous game.Police said the two creators managed to get through three levels of security before being stopped by police. During interrogation, Marmor reportedly admitted they were trying to gain access to the stadium in order to broadcast the game.Perrotta, meanwhile, reportedly told police he had been hired by a media company to review the event and was carrying expired media credentials.Authorities have charged two YouTube users with interfering with a sports or entertainment event. If prosecutors determine they committed the crime together, they could face third-degree felony charges, which carry a maximum sentence of five years in prison. If convicted, they could also each be fined up to $5,000.

Following the arrests, the duo’s manager, Walter Costabel, shared an update with Todo Noticias. He said both creators were “Wonderful” and confirmed that bail had been paid.Costabel also said the two YouTubers were not facing deportation. However, he said they were no longer allowed near the stadium hosting FIFA World Cup matches while the legal process continued. According to him, the core of the case is the alleged interference with sports events.The incident attracted attention online due to the popularity of the two creators. Beni Marmol has over 273,000 YouTube subscribers, while Pato Perrotta has over 525,000 subscribers.The case has now entered legal proceedings as authorities continue to investigate. The two YouTubers are currently out on bail, but could still face serious legal consequences depending on how the case progresses.
