The body of a newborn was found Sunday in a portable restroom at a Roseberry, Michigan, music festival grounds, authorities said.

The discovery was made by an employee of a sanitation company while performing routine maintenance on the campground area, The Detroit News reported.
Several media outlets subsequently confirmed the incident. WOOD-TV reports that sources confirmed a baby’s body was found at the festival site.
It’s also worth noting that Electric Forest, which attracts tens of thousands of attendees each year, contracts with state police to assist with security operations during the event.
State police appeal for assistance
Authorities have not determined the exact age of the baby and investigators are continuing to look into the circumstances of the case.
State police are asking for the public’s help as the investigation continues. In a statement posted on X, the West Michigan Post urged anyone with potentially relevant information to contact authorities.
“If you are in the area and observe anything unusual, or if you have information you think may be relevant, we encourage you to come forward,” the statement said.

Power Forest organizers also addressed the incident in a message to attendees, expressing their sadness at the tragedy and urging anyone with information to assist investigators.
“The Forest family, it pains us to have to share this difficult news with you. If you can help in any way, @michstatepolice will continue to investigate this tragic incident. HQ is heartbroken and knows our Forest family is as well.”
There is no known danger to the public at this time, but the investigation is ongoing.
The incident took place during the sold-out four-day Electronic Forest Music Festival at Double JJ Ranch, known for its extensive line-up of EDM and DJ performers.
The festival opened on Thursday and was scheduled to end on Sunday night.
