Dark gray smoke was rising east of Castro Valley Redwood Road, reportedly near Castro Valley Boulevard, according to multiple posts circulating on social media.
One Facebook user shared multiple photos that appeared to show the scene and wrote: “I believe there is a structure fire going on in Queen in Castro Valley right now. I would avoid the Grove. Smells like fireworks.”
Another Facebook user later reported that Alameda County Fire Department crews responded to a confirmed two-alarm structure fire on Queen Street.
The user also urged residents and motorists to avoid the area, writing: “Avoid this area if possible.”
