Facebook and Threads experienced widespread outages across the United States on Tuesday night, with thousands of users reporting problems accessing the apps and websites. Many users reported that feeds, posts, and other content failed to load.
According to DownDetector, reports of the outage started appearing around 5:45 PM ET and peaked around 6:15 PM ET, when more than 20,000 users reported the issue to Facebook. A large number of users said they were unable to send or receive messages on Messenger, while others reported difficulties logging in and refreshing content.
One user reported: “Interestingly, FB is down in multiple locations, but FB hasn’t released any confirmation yet. Their service status says everything is fine. But apparently that’s not the case.”
Another added, “Stuff isn’t loading, including images and comments. The site’s responsiveness is very low.”
A third wrote: “I tried two different devices but nothing loads or shows up on Facebook. Is it down?”
Another commented: “The images are not loading correctly. I’ve seen the problem on other random sites like themoviedb.”
