Emmy AwardsAward-winning anchor Dustin Nolan announced his resignation from KWQC during an emotional live broadcast on Friday morning’s broadcast.
“Today is my last day at KWQC Television 6,” Nolan added, “I promise you I’ve given you everything I’ve got.”
Although the reason for his resignation has not been officially announced, it is generally believed that the anchor resigned to promote more accurate journalism.
“I believe that as a local news station we can’t just focus on trends or sanitized news because that would make people uncomfortable,” Nolan said, noting that this view attracted great attention from various news media and social media. He called it a public service and concluded by saying, “Good day and goodbye.”
His wife and co-host Jenna Jackson sat next to him as he got emotional.

Meanwhile, some people have reacted to his resignation announcement, with one saying: “It’s too bad we’ve lost free speech and therefore honest journalists.”
Another said: “It’s hard to say goodbye to a career you love and believe in so much. I pray he can find his niche again.”

Before joining KWQC, Catholic St. Ambrose University Graduates have worked as sports reporters for WQAD News 8 and as reporters and anchors for WHBF-TV.
He later joined Iowa News, where he worked alongside his wife, Jenna Jackson, and paid an emotional tribute, calling her “the greatest co-anchor of my life.” Nolan tearfully admitted that the “hardest part” of the decision was that he would no longer sit in front of the press desk with Jackson. KWQC has yet to comment on his resignation.
