The City of Santa Clarita released a statement regarding the situation. “The fire is currently estimated to be 3 to 4 acres and is burning southeast of Pico Canyon Road and Stevenson Ranch Boulevard in Stevenson Ranch. A shelter-in-place request has been requested for the area adjacent to Pico Canyon Road and Stevenson Ranch Boulevard (STV-PICO Zone).”
“If you are in an affected area:
• Stay indoors
• Close all doors and windows
• If smoke appears, turn off fans and air conditioners
• “Be prepared to evacuate if conditions change,” the alert reads.
“Structural protection is being established for each on-site unit in the 25100 Block of Summerhill Lane and along Southwind Court,” a WatchDuty update reads. A shelter-in-place has been issued for the STV-PICO area and a second alert response has been requested by WatchDuty. “Structural protection is being established east of the fire near Glorizo Lane and Favolo Rosso Court,” an update was posted on a website that tracks wildfire outbreaks across the United States.

It’s unclear what caused the fire and there’s no update on any injuries.
The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station also shared a map of areas affected by the fires and advised “residents in affected areas should:
• Keep everyone and pets indoors.
• Stay indoors with doors and windows closed.
• Follow official updates and be prepared to follow additional instructions from emergency responders. ” Shelter-in-place is located “southeast of Pico Canyon Rd. and Stevenson Ranch Pkwy,” they added.

A video showed thick smoke visible in the area.
One person shared a map of where the fire started. “Ouch, there’s a fire in Stevenson Ranch south of Pico, including Hamburger Hill!” they commented on X.
A local reporter also shared a video and wrote “Quick time lapse of the Max Fire burning over Stevenson Ranch. The latest fire is approximately 3-4 acres in size and some structures may be threatened. The communities of South Oaks and Sunset Point south of Pico Canyon are under shelter in place.”
A person who lives near where the fire started captured the extent of the fire.
“A fire just broke out behind our house. We are evacuating now and trying to figure out where we are going. We may not have to worry about packing up and moving after all,” they wrote.
