Interviewed by The New York Times In an interview published on Trump’s birthday, Carlson said the president gets uncomfortable when the conversation turns to aging. Trump’s comments come as he celebrates the milestone while continuing his busy public schedule and preparing for a UFC event at the White House.

Tucker Carlson on Donald Trump’s age

Tucker Carlson, who spent many years with Trump before their recent disagreements over the Iran conflict, told the New York Times that Trump often refers to older people he admires when it comes to age. Carlson said Trump often talks about people who remain active in their later years.

One example he mentioned was retired golfer Gary Player, now 90 years old. Carlson Said the conversations showed Trump pays close attention to aging issues but doesn’t like to discuss his own age directly.

Carlson also expressed his views on another project that Trump has strongly supported in recent years, a large ballroom planned for the White House complex. He described the effort as an older leader’s attempt to leave a lasting symbol of his tenure.

Several sources who spoke to People painted a similar picture of a president uninterested in slowing down. One political source told People magazine, “Donald is happy to avoid thinking about his age and aging. He’s too busy reveling in his power.” Another former Trump team member said the president still maintains a rigorous schedule and never enjoys long breaks or vacations.

The source added that Trump prefers to stay busy and working rather than withdraw from public life. A social source told People that Trump may be more picky about long-distance international travel in the future because travel is more demanding than it was a few years ago. Still, Trump still enjoys playing golf, spending time with trusted allies and meeting with supporters, sources said.

Another person close to Trump told People that he wishes he had the energy he had decades ago but believes the responsibilities of the presidency naturally take a toll over time. Trump is celebrating his 80th birthday UFC events on the South Lawn of the White House, becoming one of the few American presidents to celebrate this milestone while remaining at the center of national politics.
