a structure fire Colorado Boulevard at Ruidoso Downs, New Mexicoturned into a vegetation fire, prompting a multi-agency response. The incident happened Thursday in the 400 block of Colorado Lane, WatchDuty reported.

The Lincoln County Fire Department released a statement regarding the fire. “Tonight at approximately 8:46 p.m., emergency crews responded in a mutual aid manner to a structure fire in the area of 440 Colorado Boulevard in Ruidoso Downs. The fire has since expanded to a wildland fire and multiple agencies and resources are actively responding to the incident,” they said.
Agencies on scene included the Ruidoso Fire Department, Ruidoso Downs Fire Department, Lincoln County Office of Emergency Services, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Mescalero Fire Department and Lincoln County EMS, the statement noted.

“The scene remains very active and the public is asked to avoid the area to allow for safe access by emergency crews for firefighting operations and traffic control. Residents in nearby areas should remain alert and prepare for evolving conditions, including smoke and possible emergency notifications,” statement additional.
The cause of the fire is unclear at this time and there is no update on injuries.
Meanwhile, horrific videos of the Ruidoso fire were shared on Facebook and X.

One person shared a video showing thick black smoke rising to the ground night Sky.
“We received word of a fire at Ruidoso Downs near Colorado and Utah Lanes. This video was taken on June 11 at approximately 8:52 p.m., approximately 23 minutes ago,” they wrote.
Another person shared a photo of the fire in the distance.
“On June 11, 2026, at 8:52 p.m., a fire broke out at Colorado and Utah lanes at Ruidoso Downs,” they noted. KRQE’s chief meteorologist also shared a video, noting that “a structure fire at Ruidoso Downs has evolved into a wildfire this evening. Multiple agencies and resources are currently on scene.”
In another video, the fire became clear and could be seen from a distance, with sirens filling the air.
The same person also posted another video showing the intense flames up close. They noted: “Ruidoso Downs, June 11, 2026 at 9:06 pm, there were many firefighters on scene fighting the fire.”
A local also shared a photo, noting that “Ruidoso Downs Lane, Colorado/Utah…house fire turned into a wasteland.” You can see it here.
Some people also reacted to news of the Ruidoso Downs fire. “I’m right around the corner and it looks like they’re taking it out,” one of them commented. Another added: “Praying for all the firefighters and first responders. Lord, please help them stay safe and get the situation under control quickly.” Another said: “We are right next to where this happened and the fire is so intense.”
