Carmelo Anthony was transferred to a Texas prison to begin his 35 years in prison for murder Austin Metcalf. On the morning of Wednesday, June 10, he was transferred to the Wallace Park Jail near Houston, Texas, after spending the previous night in the county jail.
In a new photo, 19-year-old Anthony has a shaved head and is wearing a sleeveless tunic. He has now filed a notice of appeal following his conviction, according to court records.
All about the Wallace Pack Unit
Wallace Park Prison (P1) is a Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) prison located in unincorporated Grimes County, Texas. It is located 5 miles (8.0 km) south of Navasota, along Farm to Market Road 1227, near Houston.
The prison opened in September 1983 and was named after Ellis Prison warden Wallace Pack, who drowned in self-defense in 1981.
According to PrisonPro, “The Wallace Pack Unit, commonly referred to as the ‘Pack Unit,’ is a medium-security prison located just outside the city limits of Navasota, Texas, in Grimes County. The Pack Unit is an all-male prison housing approximately 1,157 offenders in the main cell, and an additional 321 inmates in Trusty Camp. The facility shares over 7,000 acres with the Luther Unit. Offenders in the Pack Unit can be G1, The average prison sentence for prisoners in the G2 or G3 security level ranges from 22 to 85 years old.”
The packaging unit consists of 23 housing units and one isolation unit. It provides off-site medical, mental health and dental services to offenders. It has a 12-bed infirmary and a wheelchair-friendly ward, and provides a variety of services for elderly prisoners.

Anthony, 19 Sentenced to 35 years in prison 2025 murder of 17-year-old Metcalf. He is accused of stabbing Metcalf to death during a rain delay at a high school track meet. Before the stabbing at Frisco Memorial High School, Metcalf reportedly asked Anthony, who is black, to leave the event because he did not attend that school. Metcalf is white.
Anthony has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder in the April 2, 2025, slaying of Metcalf. He claimed he stabbed Metcalf in self-defense.
