According to local authorities, the pizza was delivered to a house that was supposed to be vacant. Anshul’s family claimed that he was lured into a trap.

Anshul, who worked as a pizza delivery worker over the weekend, was shot in the back of the head at around 12:30pm on Friday, June 5. Four years ago, he moved to the United States and was employed by a multinational company. He reportedly delivered pizza on weekends to make some extra money, his family told the outlet.
“He dreamed of achieving great things in life”
Anshul received his Bachelor of Technology (BTech) in Chemical Engineering from Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology (CBIT), India. One of his CBIT classmates, Junaid Qureshi, told Hindustan Times in a conversation that he and Anshul’s other friends were “deeply shocked and disturbed by the tragic news”.
Junaid added: “Currently, our main focus is on seeking justice for Anshul and ensuring his mortal remains are returned to India as soon as possible. We stand firmly with his family at this extremely difficult time.”
Mouli, one of Anshul’s friends, described him as “a fun, happy, positive person who always spreads happiness around him.”
“He believed in himself and dreamed of achieving great things in life,” Muley added.
Another friend, Avanindra, described Anshul as “intelligent and talented” who “was an excellent athlete and was known for his friendly nature”.
Anshul is reportedly linked to CBIT football team.
“Anshul always greeted people around him warmly,” Avanindra further said.

He added: “As his friends, we stand with his family in their quest for justice. We urge the relevant authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and identify and arrest the suspects at the earliest. We also request the Indian government, including the Ministry of External Affairs, to coordinate with the relevant foreign authorities to return Anshul’s body to India as soon as possible so that his family can perform the last rites with dignity.”
Junaid recalls Anshul in a reminiscence Emotional LinkedIn posts He also said his life was lost in a “senseless act of violence.”
“It reveals a deeply painful reality. Many of us leave our homes and families behind to use our hard work and talents to contribute to global progress. It is deeply disturbing to know that anyone can face this vulnerability while working to build the future,” he wrote.
Junaid added: “Hearing his sister’s heartbreaking plea for her family back home was a huge wake-up call. It highlights the urgent need for stronger social protection and a robust security framework to protect international students and professionals living abroad.”
Junaid said he wanted to see “real, proactive steps to ensure that the global talent that helps the world progress is truly safe and protected.”
“RIP Anshul. You deserve a long and bright future. All my thoughts and strength go to your family,” he concluded.
Anshul’s sister said After his murder, he never wanted to go to the United States, but his family sent him anyway.
“He didn’t want to go to the US but we sent him… (now) look where he ends up. This is a message to all parents who send their children to the US, don’t send your children to the US,” she told PTI.
What happened to Anshul Kuncha?
Police are offering a $20,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in Anshul’s murder. Authorities said the shooting happened at the Raymond Rosen Homes in the 2300 block of Edgley Street.
Anshul was found shot in the head shortly after making a delivery to a vacant unit in the area. He was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Surveillance cameras operated by the Philadelphia Housing Authority did not capture the shooting but showed two people wearing dark clothing following Anshul toward the box. One of the men following him appeared to be carrying a black backpack.
Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said Kuncha “was lying on the ground unresponsive, shot in the head and bleeding heavily.”
“All three spent shell casings were within inches of the ground where the victim was lying in the yard, which indicates that the shooter was standing very, very close to the victim because all three spent shell casings were within inches of the victim,” Small said, according to NBC News.
No arrests have been made yet. However, Small said they had the phone number of the caller who ordered the pizza, and Anshul went to deliver it.
Anshul’s vehicle was found near the scene with a pizza heater inside. Police found three untouched pizza boxes and a bag inside the vacant apartment, suggesting he successfully delivered the items before he was shot. “
