Trump announces rally on National Mall after Freedom 250 concert lineup changes

The previously promoted Freedom 250 concert lineup disbanded after several artists dropped out.

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump has announced a June 24 rally on the National Mall, replacing the previously promoted Freedom 250 concert lineup, which Several artists quit.

This event, Listed in Freedom 250 “The Great American State Fair—Celebrating America’s Greatest Celebration with President Donald J. Trump” is scheduled for 7 p.m. on the National Mall.

Trump called the event “the greatest rally ever!” The president said in a statement posted on the Freedom 250 event page that the lineup will include Lee Greenwood, tenor Christopher Macchio, the U.S. Army Band Pershing, the Armed Forces Choir, the President’s Own U.S. Marine Corps Band and the Combined Arms Choir.

Trump also criticized previously scheduled performers, saying “we’ve told them all to stay home.”

The rally comes one day before the Great American State Fair is scheduled to open on the National Mall as part of events related to the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Freedom 250 officials said the fair will be held daily from June 25 to July 10 on the National Mall between 4th and 14th Streets. Organizers say it will feature state and territory pavilions, specialty exhibitions, live performances, interactive experiences and classic fair attractions.

The show is expected to be open Sunday through Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., and July 4 from 10 a.m. to midnight.

The announcement comes after multiple performers dropped out of the previously announced Freedom 250 entertainment program. Artists including Martina McBride, Bret Michaels, Young MC and The Commodores were previously promoted as part of the event’s lineup, but several later dropped out due to concerns over the event’s political affiliations.

Vanilla Ice is the only artist to say publicly that she will still perform, but even that may not happen after Trump “told them all to stay home.”
