preliminary report: Unconfirmed eyewitness reports of a shooting during the Festival of Our Lady of Summer in Greenwood, Indianaon Friday. Several attendees reported fleeing the scene after hearing gunshots. Authorities have not confirmed the reports and details remain limited.
What did the witnesses say?
Witnesses on social media claimed they heard someone was shot in the foot during the incident. According to unconfirmed reports, the suspect fled the scene before being taken into custody. There are also conflicting reports as to whether the festival was shut down or later reopened.
As of now, neither Greenwood police nor festival organizers have issued an official statement confirming these claims.
“Lila and I were hitchhiking when the OLG shooting happened and it felt like we were trapped forever. Thank God for protecting my family,” one witness wrote on Facebook.
Another wrote: “I heard someone was shot in the foot and a possible suspect is in custody.”
A third added, “When we said ‘we’re glad the kids had a great time’ we heard the first gunshots and looked at each other like that was what it was, and then the rest of the noise started quickly.”
Another local resident reported: “I just heard about this!! My friends were there! It’s so scary, so glad you’re all okay.”
