Bellevue party house investigation leads to human trafficking arrest

Police arrested a suspect who appeared in court, where a judge found grounds for possible investigations into human trafficking, money laundering and other issues.

BELLEVUE, Wash. — A Bellevue neighborhood has become the focus of a major police investigation after complaints about large parties at a luxury rental led authorities to uncover an alleged human trafficking operation.

Police have arrested a suspect who appeared in court on Friday and a judge found there may be grounds for an investigation into human trafficking, money laundering and major organized crime. Bail is set at $5 million, formal charges have not been set and the next hearing is scheduled for Monday.

The case began last fall when neighbors reported large parties being held at a sprawling South Bellevue rental, according to Bellevue police. The parties, usually held on Friday and Saturday nights, draw crowds and are promoted on social media, where tickets are sold.

“Some of these parties were over 300 people, and this was a single-family home in a quiet neighborhood,” said Bellevue Police Department Officer Seth Tyler.

Police received reports of ongoing disturbances, including loud noise, traffic congestion and disorder into the early hours. There were also complaints of reckless drunken driving, assaults and individuals brandishing weapons.

“We’ve had situations where parents send their high school-aged kids to these parties and have no idea what’s going on inside,” Taylor said.

Investigators say those complaints ultimately led to the discovery of broader criminal activity. Authorities said the tenant marketed the property and used it to recruit young women to create online content.

“Essentially, these young women, currently 18 to 22 years old, were promised certain things. They were brought into this home to perform online for these sites, like Only Fans, and those promises were not fulfilled,” Taylor said.

Prosecutors outlined more serious charges in court, describing abuse and coercion.

“…included beating multiple young women and strangling them. The women reported that he spat at them, pointed a gun at them and made them crawl on the floor like a dog,” a prosecutor said.

Police searched the property on Thursday and seized evidence including two high-end vehicles.

“One of them is a McLaren sports car,” Taylor points out.

Authorities believe the suspects profited significantly from the operation.

“He made hundreds of thousands of dollars by exploiting numerous young women throughout King County,” prosecutors said.

Investigators say it’s still possible to identify more victims.

“We believe there may be more victims,” Taylor said.

The investigation remains ongoing as prosecutors prepare formal charges.
