Patrol officers found prolific actor James Handy stabbed in the chest in the front yard of a Los Angeles home.

“I am the Son of Man and I just killed the sinner,” a 911 caller said around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. According to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Patrol officers later found the 81-year-old actor, who has starred in films including “Top Gun” and the original “Jumanji,” unconscious and stabbed in the chest in the front yard of a home in Tarzana’s San Fernando Valley neighborhood. Handy was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Michael Gledhill, 44, whose mother is Handy’s girlfriend, also allegedly confessed to the crime when police arrived at the scene, flagging down officers and telling them he was the man they were looking for. According to police, Gledhill had been living with his mother at the Tarzana residence where Handy was killed.
Gledhill was arrested and charged with murder, and his bail was set at $2 million. Detectives with the Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division said they believe the stabbing was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public.

According to IMDB, Handy is a prolific Hollywood actor who has appeared in nearly 150 films and TV shows dating back to the 1970s, including eight episodes of the 2000s JJ Abrams spy thriller “Melrose Place” and six episodes of the 1990s soap opera “Melrose Place.”
According to IMDB, Handy was born in New York and is known for playing an exterminator in the 1995 film “Jumanji” and most recently played Jimmy the bartender in the 2022 film “Top Gun: Maverick.” He has also appeared in some popular crime TV series, including “NCIS: Los Angeles,” “Criminal Case” and “Cold Case.”
