SEATTLE — June has arrived.
Often referred to as “June,” this month can bring cloudy days and rain, but that shouldn’t put a damper on plans. This weekend, local cities are hosting marine heritage events, Pride Month celebrations and free admission to Western Washington state parks.
Before setting off, check the weather forecast and whether there are any road closures.
Here are five things to do in Western Washington this weekend:
Duval Era: June 5-6 – This festival celebrates the Duval community and the Snoqualmie Valley. Friday night kicks off with a 5k run and live music. Saturday features a grand parade, local vendors, live music, games and a fireworks finale. More information is available here.
pride in the park: Saturday, June 6 – This free event takes place at Seattle’s Volunteer Park Center and includes live music, drag performances, art, and queer and BIPOC businesses. Cape Defiance Flower and Garden Festival: June 6-7 – This free event showcases Pacific Northwest gardening and the flowers of June. Enjoy workshops and tours, plant shopping, food vendors and more. More information is available here.
sea festival: June 6-7 – Two-day festival in Gig Harbor A Star-Spangled Banner-themed parade, live music, a car show and merchandise from local businesses and food trucks. For people on the peninsula Port Angeles Maritime Festival Includes a U.S. Coast Guard Search and Rescue Demonstration, fishing derby, live music, kids zone and more on Saturday, June 6.
Free fishing weekend: June 6-7 – Throughout Washington state, no license is required to catch a variety of fish species this weekend. Permits are still required for salmon, steelhead, sturgeon, halibut and all shellfish. You can also visit any state park for free on Discovery Pass free days this weekend. Drivers passing through Seattle this weekend should be aware of significant traffic disruptions. The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) will completely close northbound Interstate 5 between Interstate 90 and Northeast 45th Street.
Lanes will close from 11:59pm on Friday 5th June and reopen at 5am on Monday 8th June.

Cool weather is expected with increased rainfall and temperatures in the mid-60s.
Saturday will bring sunshine and showers, with a chance of afternoon thunderstorms. Temperatures will drop into the 50s.
