McDonald’s launches World Cup meal collectible cups and toys

The collectible cups will feature some of the most iconic names and faces in football.

WASHINGTON – McDonald’s has launched world cup meals ahead of the football championship which starts on 11 June.

The World Cup was expanded to 48 teams for the first time and was hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada. McDonald’s has once again become an official sponsor of the football tournament and announced the launch of World Cup meals featuring collectible cups of nine football icons.

“At McDonald’s, magic happens when families, friends and fans come together to celebrate with the ones they love. This partnership with FIFA World Cup 26™ allows us to bring this shared joy to a global scale through our food, our experiences and how fans connect with the game,” said Morgan Flatley, global chief marketing officer and head of new business ventures at McDonald’s. Press release. “As football icons take to the pitch and unite fans across continents, McDonald’s will offer limited-time meals and souvenirs from the first whistle to the last minute, allowing fans of all ages to join in the excitement throughout the event.”

The meal will appear on menus nationwide from June 4.

McDonald’s World Cup Meal: What’s Included?

Customers can choose from a Big Mac or ten-piece chicken nuggets, served with gold-wrapped Big Mac sauce.

Who’s on the collector’s cup?

The collectible cups are a mix of old and new, including a trophy for U.S. men’s national soccer team captain Christian Pulisic.

One of the collectibles also features McDonald’s own grimace.

“Growing up, it was a custom to go to McDonald’s in nearby Hershey, Pennsylvania, for Chicken McNuggets and McFlurries after football games,” the USMNT’s Christian Pulisic said in a release. “These memories are a core part of my childhood and an experience I still share with my teammates today. To now be featured on a McDonald’s collectible cup after all these years is a complete moment.”

Starting June 9, young football fans can also enjoy a FIFA-inspired Happy Meal.

Each Happy Meal comes with one of 23 pumpkin plush toys, including the official World Cup mascot representing the host country. The plush toys will feature football-inspired jerseys and come with scannable codes to unlock digital games Happy Meal website.
