Ben & Jerry’s to expand in Seattle with new waterfront store

SEATTLE — Ben & Jerry’s plans to permanently open a store on the Seattle waterfront after signing a lease for a new scoop shop at Pier 54.

The ice cream company has leased space at 1001 Alaska Road #105. The upcoming full-service stores will be operated by franchisees who also operate Ben & Jerry’s stores in Green Lake and Gig Harbor. Another Seattle location is planned for Thornton Place in Northgate.

The deal comes after the company operated a seasonal pop-up store at Pier 54 last summer. Company representatives said the strong response, coupled with ongoing redevelopment efforts on the waterfront, helped solidify the decision to open a permanent store at the site.

Franchise owner Lance Blair said the site’s historic atmosphere and the owners’ vision for the waterfront played a big role in the expansion plans.

“As a Seattle native, the waterfront holds a special place in my heart,” Blair said. “I’m extremely excited to be a part of bringing Ben & Jerry’s to Pier 54 and continue to connect with the local community while serving visitors from around the world.”

Ben & Jerry’s plans to open seasonal pop-ups again this summer ahead of the opening of its permanent store.
