The 44-year-old actor plays Agent Wilson in “Twin Peaks: The Return.”
WASHINGTON — Owen Rhys-Davies, best known for his role in “Twin Peaks: The Return,” has died. He is 44 years old.
Davis’ brother confirms his death on Instagram over the weekend.
“It is with deep sadness that my father and I share the news that my brother Owen has passed away,” Rhodri Davies said on Instagram. “This news will come as a huge shock to many people. While questions remain about the circumstances of his death, our understanding at this stage is that Owen passed away suddenly, naturally and peacefully.”
“The impact of Owen’s love, friendship and generosity was immense. The outpouring of messages we have received over the past few days has been deeply moving and is testament to the impact he had on so many lives,” he continued. “Owen was fortunate to have more than one family. In addition to his biological family, he developed extraordinary, familial bonds with many of his closest friends, colleagues and loved ones. I am extremely proud that while he was my brother, he was also a brother to many others. We know that many people will feel this loss, and we take comfort in knowing how much he was loved.”
“As we learn more and begin to make arrangements, we will attempt to share more information at the appropriate time. In the meantime, we kindly ask that you all maintain some privacy as we come to terms with this devastating loss and support each other in the days ahead,” he said. “Thank you for your kindness, your message, and for keeping Owen in your thoughts.”
The 44-year-old actor starred in ““Twin Peaks: The Return” Played Agent Wilson for three episodes. He also appeared in Disney’s “Alice Through the Looking Glass” and “A Serial Killer’s Guide to Life.”
The Welsh actor is also a stage actor and has worked at the Royal National Theatre, London’s West End and other productions around the world.
The National Theater of Wales paid tribute to the actor on Monday.
“We are deeply saddened to hear of the death of Owain Rhys Davies, aged 44,” the theater said in a statement shared on social media. “Owain was a brilliant talent whose work enriched Welsh theater and screen, and his contribution to the performing arts will be remembered by audiences, colleagues and friends. His passion, creativity and dedication to his craft had a lasting impact on the cultural life of Wales.”
“The Welsh performing arts community is left poorer by his passing and we can only imagine the many more stories he will continue to tell,” the statement continued. “Our condolences and heartfelt condolences are with Owen’s family, friends, loved ones and all those who had the privilege of working with him.”
