Lynnette Hooker was a 55-year-old Michigan mom who disappeared while sailing with her husband in the Bahamas in April. The Coast Guard has now resumed the search.
WASHINGTON — The U.S. Coast Guard is sending divers to the Bahamas to explore new waters in the search for a missing Michigan mother who disappeared while sailing with her husband in early April.
U.S. investigators late may says They plan to resume the search for Lynette Hooker, 55, who was reported missing on April 5 by her husband of 25 years, Brian Hooker.
The couple was sailing in the Bahamas on an 8-foot motorboat, and Bryan said his wife apparently fell overboard in rough waters the night before as they headed from Hope to Elbow Island.
Lynette has been missing since then.
Bryan told authorities that Lynette had the keys to the boat in her pocket when she fell overboard, causing the engine to shut down and forcing him to swim to shore.
Bryan was arrested on April 8 in connection with her disappearance, but was released without charge on April 13 after being questioned.
The case was reignited in late May after new GPS data on Bryan’s phone was found to be inconsistent with what he told investigators. CNN quoted a “U.S. official familiar with the investigation” as saying“.
Location data contained in Brian Hooker’s electronic devices reportedly contradicts his early statements to investigators, suggesting where they were looking and where she went on the night she disappeared.
The U.S. Coast Guard received permission from Bahamian authorities to conduct a search in an area of the Sea of Abaco surrounding the destination, Elbow Island.
