Stars of ‘Dutton Ranch’ say more than 3,400 rattlesnakes were caught on set during filming

Kelly Reilly said there were six “snake wranglers” on set who were responsible for clearing snakes from the filming area.

Fort Worth, Texas — Taylor Sheridan stars in TV show filmed in North Texas known to be Threatened by Margaret One or two, but the cast of “Dutton Ranch” faced far more deadly dangers on set.

In an interview with “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” “Dutton Ranch” and “Yellowstone” stars Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser said they’re dealing with a big problem: rattlesnakes on set.

“In eight months, we captured 3,400 rattlesnakes,” Hauser said.

The series was filmed primarily in North Texas and premieres on Paramount+ on May 15, WFAA previously reported.

In “The Dutton Ranch,” Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler start a new life in a fictional South Texas town that ends with them going to war with a rival ranch.

Clarkson, a Fort Worth native, sympathized, saying there once was a giant rattlesnake nest on her property.

“I know there are a lot of rattlesnakes in Fort Worth because I live there. People don’t know how many snakes there are in the area,” Clarkson said.

Reilly said they had six “snake wranglers” on set who were responsible for clearing snakes from the filming area. This was especially dangerous for Reilly, who, by nature, had to walk in stilettos through the tall grass of North Texas.

“They just picked them up and put them far away from us,” Riley said.

One of the most dangerous stories comes from Howser, who said he came to film a scene only to find a den of 40 or 50 rattlesnakes. Of course, filming that night was postponed.

“Nothing makes me run faster than hearing that sound in the dead of night,” Clarkson said.
