Trump to headline ‘Great American State Fair’ after artist drops out over relationship issues

“I understand artists being ‘blown away’ by their performances,” Trump posted on his social media platform, “Truth Social Saturday,” adding that he was considering replacing these overpaid, third-rate ‘artists’ with “some say the greatest president in history (the GOAT!) Donald J. Trump.”

The group organizing the Juneteenth Fair at Freedom 250 on the National Mall in Washington confirmed the news in a statement, writing, “We are pleased to announce that President Trump will personally kick off this historic celebration.”

Trump’s social media posts twice referred to the event as “Wednesday,” even though the fair doesn’t start until June 25. The White House did not immediately clarify the discrepancy.

Freedom 250 spokesperson Danielle Alvarez emphasized that the broader expo, which runs through July 10, includes a series of exhibits, family-friendly attractions, musical performances, flyovers and more.

Freedom 250 is billed as nonpartisan but was launched by Trump last year and is led by former State Department officials appointed during Trump’s first term. Several artists, including Bret Michaels, the Commodores and Martina McBride, dropped out last week.

Michaels and other artists said they were misled about the show’s theme or feared becoming embroiled in a political battle.

Other artists are also scheduled to participate, including Flo Rida, Milli Vanilli’s Fab Morvan and Vanilla Ice. A representative for the latter previously said the “Ice Ice Baby” rapper was “proud to help celebrate America’s 250th anniversary!”
