Butler County, pennsylvaniaEric Pierwsza faces criminal charges after authorities say he used heavy construction equipment to partially demolish his home during a domestic dispute with his wife.
The incident resulted in the destruction of a large portion of the home and raised concerns about the structural stability of the building. Images from the scene show that major parts of the structure were torn away, exposing interior rooms and destabilizing much of the area.
The case also attracted widespread attention after neighbors told local media about the shocking incident. One resident joked: “I wonder what she said to him because I’ll make sure I don’t tell. I’ve been married for forty-two years and I’ve never threatened to tear down a house.”

1. The incident occurred after a marital argument. The criminal complaint states that Piersa’s wife reported to police that her husband showed up at the home after a night of drinking and started fighting with her.
Investigators say he issued a dire warning when she told him the marriage was over. “If this were all over, I would tear the house down,” Piersa said.
2. Eric Pierwsza allegedly used a Kubota excavator. Pierwsza, 48, allegedly used a stick to tear up the back of the family’s house. Kubota excavator. According to police, after his wife told him their marriage was over, Piersa lost his mind, got into an excavator and began tearing down the family’s home.
3. Pierwsza endangered his wife and children. After the argument, Piersa began tearing down the home while his wife and two daughters remained inside, according to authorities.
According to the criminal complaint, during the wife’s 911 call, dispatchers heard shouting and the sound of a Kubota excavator.
4. The first one was arrested. After wreaking havoc, Piersa returned home, grabbed her gym bag and headed toward Fawn. He was eventually taken into custody.
Piersa was charged with multiple counts, including disorderly conduct, reckless endangerment and causing a catastrophe. According to court documents, his wife planned to apply for a prevention of abuse order following the incident.
Pierwsza’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 9.
5. Neighbors were puzzled by Pierwsza’s behavior. According to neighbors who spoke to KDKA-TV, they still can’t understand what happened.
A neighbor who said he knew Piersa and had gone hunting with him in the past described Piersa as a man who loved the outdoors and expressed disbelief at the accusations.
