Approximately 117 employees will be affected. The facility will close Nov. 30, officials said.
NORTH BEND, Wash. — A heavy machinery manufacturer will close its North Bend plant by Nov. 30, eliminating 117 jobs, according to the state Employment Security Department.
Genie Industries, a unit of Terex LLC, will close its aerospace parts and logistics facility in North Bend, impacting all warehouse and manufacturing employees. Vice President Jenny Snow-Boscolo wrote in an email to the Washington State Department of Employment Security that the company has notified all employees that the first round of layoffs will occur on July 20.
According to the announcement, the company has decided to relocate its operations to three different existing operating locations: locally in Redmond and across the country in Missouri and South Carolina. Snow-Boscolo said the move would “better position the company for long-term sustainability and operational efficiency.”
The company said transfer positions have been offered to some employees at the three plants and some may be able to transfer, but those who do not choose new positions at Terex will be laid off. According to the letter, there is no union representing Genie employees at the North Bend facility.

according to Snoqualmie Valley Records, Terex built a warehouse facility in North Bend in 2009 after operations at the company’s Redmond plant outgrew the area’s capacity. Genie Industries’ main office is in Bothell, with additional aerial facilities in Moses Lake and Redmond.
