WASHINGTON — French actor Pierre Deny, who starred in the Netflix series “Emily in Paris,” has died of a “sudden” case of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), his daughters confirmed to a French news agency on Wednesday. He is 69 years old.

Dani’s daughters confirmed in a press release to French news agency AFP that the actor died on Monday.

Danny appeared in three episodes of Emily in Paris between seasons three and four, playing fictional French luxury executive Louis de Leon.

In addition to Emily in Paris, Danny is also well-known in France for starring in hit police dramas and soap operas. According to DEADLINE, Danny appeared in more than 300 episodes of the soap opera “Tomorrow Is Ours,” playing the character Renaud Dumaze.

What is amyotrophic lateral sclerosis?

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease in the United States, causes the progressive loss of neurons that control muscle movement.

Baseball player Lou Gehrig and British astrophysicist Stephen Hawking also suffer from the disease. In France, ALS is often called Charcot’s disease, named after the 19th-century French neurologist who first discovered the disease.
