‘Real victim’: 16-year-old shot to death in Pierce County

Law enforcement is asking anyone within a 3-mile radius to come forward with information.

TACOMA, Wash. – On Sunday at approximately 7:13 p.m., Pierce County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a seriously injured person in the 10200 block of S Sheridan Avenue in Parkland.

The victim, a 16-year-old boy, suffered a gunshot wound. Medical emergency personnel performed CPR, but he died at the scene.

According to Pierce County Sheriff’s Deputy Carly Cappetto, the boy was walking with his girlfriend, also 16, when a car drove up, surprising them. Cappetto said the occupiers took some of the boy’s jewelry and then shot him.

“We have multiple suspects that have not yet been identified, which is very concerning. We ask the community not to approach vehicles that they don’t know they have,” Cappetto told KING 5.

Cappetto also asked community members within a three-mile radius of the incident to provide any footage or surveillance information they may have related to the incident.

“It was a real victim tonight,” Cappetto said.
