Cheney, WA — (Update 2)
As of 6 p.m., the fire had grown from 2 to 30 acres, and Spokane County Fire District 3 reported that one home had been destroyed, but that most of the fire had perimeter around it and was progressing smoothly.
Two people evacuated from the burned house.
There is no word yet on when the evacuation level will be lowered, but Spokane County Fire Protection District No. 3 Fire Chief Cody Rohrbach said the evacuation level will remain in place into the evening.

As of 3 p.m., several structures were said to be threatened. According to Spokane County Fire District 3, the evacuation level was raised to Level 2 (prepare to leave) at 3:30 p.m.
A brush fire broke out in the 17800 block of S. Aspen Meadows Drive near Cheney at 2:20 p.m.
The cause of the fire is unknown and is under investigation, according to Spokane County Fire District 3.
