Canadian television actor Stewart McLean, 45, was reported missing on May 18.
VANCOUVER, British Columbia – The body of Canadian actor Stewart McLean, best known for his roles in Netflix’s “Virgin River” and other TV series, has reportedly been found in Lions Bay, British Columbia. Reportauthorities confirmed they were treating his death as a homicide.
McClain, 45, was initially reported missing on May 18 after he had not been seen since May 15. Authorities said he was last seen at his residence in Lions Bay, a community northwest of Vancouver. RCMP confirmed they are treating his death as a homicide.
Investigator Announce On Thursday, evidence uncovered during the missing persons investigation led them to believe McClain was the victim of a homicide, prompting the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) to formally take over the case.
Lucas Talent, the agency that represents McClain Tributes to his death were shared on social media.
“It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our beloved client Stew McLean. I was lucky enough to work with Stew for over a decade. He was always a pleasure to deal with – dedicated, professional, enthusiastic, and always fun!” the post read. “Many casting directors have expressed their condolences to Stu’s family and our agency, and every message says the same thing: what a great man he was and how deeply he will be missed.”
Authorities did not elaborate on the evidence pointing to a homicide. They said they are also working with the Integrated Forensic Identification Service.
“As the investigation continues to unfold, homicide investigators are working to collect and analyze evidence, review CCTV footage and conduct interviews to develop a timeline of Mr. McClain’s activities leading up to May 15, 2026,” said IHIT spokesperson Cpl. Esther Tapper in an article Statement to the media. “We are pursuing all available leads in an effort to find answers for Mr. McClain’s family, friends and loved ones.”
McClain’s credits include an episode of Netflix’s “Virgin River,” an episode of the Fox crime drama “Small Town,” the Paramount+ true-crime series “Happy Face” and the Lifetime TV movie “The Killer Within: The Ruth Finley Story.” His early credits include roles on The CW’s Arrow, the Netflix series Travelers and the freelance series Beyond.
