SEATTLE — Seattle’s iconic Pike Place Market will launch a new pilot program in early June that will allow visitors to purchase alcoholic beverages from participating vendors and enjoy them while strolling through the market.
this “Sip the Taste” pilot program The event begins Friday, June 5, and runs through Labor Day weekend (Friday-Sunday, noon-5 p.m.). A previous proposal for the scheme was called “Drink Walk”.
The plan, approved by the Pike Place Preservation and Development Authority (PDA) Board of Governors Executive Committee on Thursday, aims to support small businesses and create new opportunities to “keep visitors coming back.”
Participating businesses include 24 local favorites such as Rachel’s Ginger Beer, Lonely Siren, Old Stove Brewing, Alibi Room and more.
To participate, guests must be 21 years or older, present a valid ID, wear a wristband, and drink from designated cups in specially marked areas. Staff will patrol the market to ensure safe consumption.
