
A 5-year-old girl and a 2-year-old boy were hospitalized Thursday after accidentally falling from a Tacoma apartment window.
TACOMA, Wash. — Two toddlers in Tacoma survived a fall from a third-floor apartment window Thursday, according to police and fire officials.
Officials said a 5-year-old girl fell from a window of a third-story apartment in the 3600 block of South G Street. Tacoma Fire Department personnel transported her to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
In a separate incident, a 2-year-old boy fell from a third-story apartment window in the 6400 block of 53rd Avenue East. He was also taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said both falls were accidental. Both children are expected to survive, officials said.
The events come at a time when warmer weather may cause many families to open the windows of their homes.

Window stops are designed to prevent windows from opening wide enough for children to fall while still allowing air to circulate.
