Nearly 60,000 Honda and Acura vehicles recalled over rearview camera issues

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration warns that the rearview camera screens in recalled vehicles may display distorted or blank images.

WASHINGTON — Nearly 60,000 Honda and Acura vehicles were recalled this week after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported problems with the vehicles’ rearview cameras.

“The rearview camera screen may display a distorted or blank image,” recall report Excerpt from NHTSA report.

The recall affects the 2024-2025 Honda Prologue and the 2024 Acura ZDX, both electric midsize crossover SUVs. Honda and Acura are both automotive divisions of Honda Motor Company.

  • 2024-2025 Honda Prologue (44,199 vehicles affected)
  • 2024 Acura ZDX (15,688 vehicles affected)

According to NHTSA, a Honda or Acura dealer will replace the rearview camera on the SUV for free. Warning letters will be sent to drivers on July 6 warning them of the issue and potential safety risks.

While nearly 59,887 vehicles may be subject to the recall, NHTSA estimates that only about 4% of the vehicles are actually defective.

As of May 7, Honda has received 2,411 warranty claims related to the issue since 2023, and there have been no reports of injuries caused by the camera issue.
