
Charlotte Motor Speedway and Indianapolis Motor Speedway are planning tributes to Kyle Busch ahead of the Coca-Cola 600 and Indy 500.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — As the racing community Mourning the Passing of NASCAR Legend Kyle Buschplans are underway at Charlotte Motor Speedway and Indianapolis Motor Speedway pay tribute Pay tribute to the two-time Cup Series champion ahead of one of the sport’s biggest weekends.
Charlotte Motor Speedway honored Busch by displaying a photo of him on the big screen. Thursday, WCNC Charlotte spoke with Charlotte Motor Speedway Vice President of Communications Jonathan Coleman, who said it’s hard to imagine the Coca-Cola 600 weekend without one of the most recognizable faces in the sport.
“This is an opportunity to pay tribute to his legacy to the sport and to honor the winningest driver in all three major series at Charlotte Motor Speedway,” Coleman said.

In Indianapolis, the city is preparing for the 110th running of the Indianapolis 500.

Busch won the Brickyard 400 at the track in 2015 and 2016. He made his 700th career Cup Series start at the 2024 Brickyard 400.
WTHR spoke with INDYCAR President Doug Boles about Busch’s historic moment on the track.
“He did really well at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He loves coming here because it’s such a technical track for those cars. If you’re a good driver and you have a good crew, you’re going to do well here. He’s been through a bunch of tests and he can do no wrong here. So, he’s definitely missed here,” Boles said.
Bolles also said it’s important for fans to remember Busch’s passion for the sport.
He said plans are underway to pay tribute to Busch before the Indy 500.
“We’re going to do something. I don’t know what it will be yet, but we have to make sure it’s appropriate,” Boles said. “But we’re going to make sure we have something that includes the fans and is an opportunity for us to remember Kyle Busch.”
