Kyle Busch’s final social post leaves heartbreaking message for his son

The 41-year-old NASCAR great died Thursday after being hospitalized following a serious illness.

WASHINGTON — Days before NASCAR driver Kyle Busch died, he was celebrating his son’s birthday.

Busch died Thursday Hours after his family announced he was hospitalized with a serious illness. The cause of death is not yet known. The Associated Press reported Wednesday Busch was found unresponsive in a driving simulator.

Bush celebrated his eldest child’s birthday on social media on Monday. This will be his last post before his death.

“Happy Birthday Braxton!!! Your mom and I are so proud of how you’ve grown! You’re the best kid on and off the track and you amaze us every day,” Busch said in his Instagram caption. “Keep doing what you’re doing, there’s no limit to what you’ll accomplish! Love you, man!”

Busch and his wife, Samantha Busch, have two children, 11-year-old Brexton Locke and 4-year-old Lennix Key.

The NASCAR driver’s social media posts feature photos of him and Braxton over the years, even as his son follows in his father’s footsteps. Braxton started competing in 2020.

Samantha also shared a post on social media to celebrate her son’s 11th birthday on Monday.

“11 years of loving you, rooting for you, and trying to figure out how you grew up so fast. 🥹
Happy birthday to my sweet boy. Watching you become this driven, funny, kind little man is the best gift. Blakes, so proud of you every day,” she said on Instagram. “No matter how tall you grow or how fast you drive…you will always be my baby. 💚🧡🎂”

On May 10, Busch also celebrated his daughter’s birthday and Mother’s Day. He focused on Lennix, his wife and mother.

“My girls deserve the attention today. 💕
Happy Mother’s Day to Samantha and my mom! Thank you for the love, patience, strength and everything you pour into our family every day,” Bush, also known as “Rowdy,” said on social media. “Happy birthday to our crazy Lennix. “You make us laugh, keep us on our toes, and make every day better.”

“I’m so lucky to have you in my life, girls. I love you more than you can imagine!! 😘,” he added.

Busch died suddenly just days before he was scheduled to compete in the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

“Our entire NASCAR family is heartbroken by the loss of Kyle Busch. Kyle was a future Hall of Famer and a rare talent that only comes along once in a generation,” said the Busch family, Richard Childress Racing and NASCAR said in a joint statement following his death. “He’s fierce, he’s passionate, he’s skilled and he cares deeply about the sport and the fans.”
