LONDON, United Kingdom — A truck driver has been jailed by a British court for smuggling 7 million pounds ($9.4 million) worth of cocaine in lingerie and clothing from Kim Kardashian’s shapewear brand Skims, authorities said Monday.
The National Crime Agency said Jakub Jan Konkel, 40, was stopped by border officers at a port in Essex in September while driving a lorry carrying 28 pallets of Skims clothing from the Netherlands.
The agency said Konkel stopped along the way to collect 198 pounds of cocaine and the truck was modified so he could hide the drugs wrapped in 2.2-pound packages in a compartment in the truck’s back door.
The agency said the shipment of clothing was legal and that neither the exporter nor the importer had anything to do with the smuggled goods.
Conker said he had agreed to transport the drugs for a fee of 4,500 euros ($5,243), according to the agency.
He was sentenced to 13-and-a-half years in prison at Chelmsford Crown Court for drug smuggling.
