Texas Roadhouse closes its first restaurant

The first Texas Roadhouse is closing, but a newer, larger location will open in the fall.

CLARKSVILLE, Ind. — Texas Roadhouse plans to close its Restaurant established in 1993 later this year.

On Friday, officials told WHAS11 A new Texas Roadhouse restaurant is under construction near Bubba’s 33 on Veterans Boulevard in Clarksville, Indiana. The new, larger restaurant is expected to open in mid-November.

Texas Roadhouse said its first restaurant at Green Tree Mall on Lewis and Clark Avenue will close once the new location opens.

Texas Roadhouse officials called the move “bittersweet” given the restaurant’s history, but said design features from the original location will be incorporated into the new space.

As a new restaurant opens, the steakhouse said it is raising menu prices by nearly 2 percent. May earnings call. The price increase takes effect in early April.

Texas Roadhouse executives also said they plan to open new stores this year.

Its parent company operates 822 restaurants in 49 states, including 749 Texas Roadhouse restaurants.

Last year, the steakhouse chain officially became the largest casual restaurant chain in the United States, surpassing longtime leader Olive Garden.

The Louisville, Ky.-based steakhouse chain’s U.S. sales will surge 14.7% to $5.5 billion in 2024 while adding 26 new locations, bringing the number of restaurants nationwide to 664, according to Technomic’s latest Top 500 Restaurant Chains report. They also operate in U.S. territories and ten countries.
