The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office is asking drivers to avoid Spanaway Loop near Military Road South due to a “tragic scene.”
SPANAWAY, Wash. — The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) is investigating a “tragic scene” that occurred after a driver struck and killed a 21-year-old man in Spanaway.
Deputies are responding to a fatal crash near Spanaway Circle. The road is closed in both directions between Military Road South and 174th Street South; drivers are asked to find alternative routes.
PCSO says the driver remains at the scene and no arrests will be made.
While authorities initially described the incident as a collision between a teenage pedestrian and a vehicle, officials said the victim, a 21-year-old man, died at the scene.
It’s unclear what caused the collision.
